Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi left New York’s game with the San Jose Sharks early in the third period Sunday with what appears to be a right foot injury.
Girardi took a Matt Irwin shot off his right foot and struggled to the Rangers’ bench.
The club announced soon after that he would not return.
Following the game, head coach Alain Vigneault said Girardi was listed as day-to-day.
The Rangers are already without veteran defenseman, Dan Boyle, who is recovering from a broken hand.
