Toronto is known for its passionate hockey fanbase, but some of the Leafs’ players seem to enjoy the support they get away from home more.

There were some passionate supporters of the Maple Leafs in the Joe Louis Arena for Toronto’s 1-0 overtime loss in Detroit last night. Those fans attracted Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul’s attention.

“It’s fun, again it’s probably a better energy than we get back in Toronto,” Lupul said. “So, it’s nice when we’re here or Buffalo or places like that when a lot of our fans come out.”

He wasn’t alone.

“That was probably some of the best support we’ve gotten since I’ve been here,” James van Riemsdyk said, who has 134 games with Toronto under his belt. “That was awesome.”
