Ducks starter Frederik Andersen made 28 saves for his first career shutout as Anaheim blanked the visiting St. Louis Blues 3-0 Sunday night.
Defenseman Sami Vatanen had his first career two-goal game and Matt Beleskey picked up the game-winner as the Ducks extended their win streak to five games.
Andersen joined former Bruins goaltender Ross Brooks as the only goalies in NHL history to win 25 (or more) of their first 30 NHL decisions.
Beleskey opened the scoring at 1:37 of the first period picking up a favorable bounce off the linesman and blowing a slap shot past Brian Elliott for his fourth of the season.
Vatanen gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead, on a power play, at 17:53 of the opening period one-timing a Jakob Silfverberg drop pass.
The blue liner picked up his second of the night, and the season, on a second period power play, picking up a Ryan Getzlaf feed and beating Elliott with a wrist shot. Getzlaf finished with two assists in the win.
Elliott made 22 saves in the loss.
The Ducks out-hit the Blues by a 27-24 margin, including a game-high five hits from forward Devante Smith-Pelly.
St. Louis’ two losses on its’ three-game road trip have come in Southern California. The Blues lost 1-0 in a shootout on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
