According to Sportsnet’s Elliiotte Friedman, the Calgary Flames and pending restricted free-agent defenseman, T.J. Brodie, have begun talking contract extension.
Brodie, 24, has two goals and six points while averaging nearly 25 minutes of ice time a night through six games this season.
Originally a fourth-round selection of the Flames in 2008, Brodie has 65 points in 191 games over parts of five seasons for Calgary.
Brodie’s two-year, $4.25 million contract expires after this season. He is the Flames only RFA on the blue line. Both Raphael Diaz and Corey Potter will become unrestricted in July 2015.
