The only thing separating the Chicago Blackhawks from a victory Wednesday was Jonas Hiller. And, according to Chicago players, a lack of finish, too.
Hiller was, except for one goal that needed to be reviewed due to the possibility of the puck being deflected in with a high stick, unbeatable. He faced 50 shots from a talented Blackhawks squad. He turned away 49 of them, and the Flames escaped Chicago with a 2-1 overtime win.
The Flames were outshot 50-18. They somehow managed two points.
Mikael Backlund scored the winner, beating Corey Crawford with a wrist shot to the glove side in the final seconds of a frantic extra period.
The last time a Flames goalie made as many saves in a game? Well, it was quite a long time ago. Approaching 21 years, actually.

Meanwhile, for the Blackhawks, they scored just once on seven power play opportunities, and their only goal with the man-advantage was on the Andrew Shaw deflection, with his stick hovering around the crossbar.
"[Hiller] made a couple nice plays, but we couldn’t finish,” Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa told the Chicago Sun-Times. “We played a lot of this game pretty good. We just couldn’t score goals.”
