The San Jose Sharks went into the first intermission of Tuesday’s game with a 3-0 lead against the Washington Capitals and their offense has come from some very unusual sources.
Matt Irwin scored two goals in just 4:36 minutes after finding the back of the net a mere eight times in his first 100 games. Then John Scott -- yes, really -- made it 3-0 in his first game with the San Jose Sharks.
And just like that, Scott has fulfilled his quota of goals scored for the season. The 6-foot-8 enforcer scored once with Buffalo last season. If he gets another marker with the Sharks in 2014-15 he will not only set a new career-high, but he’ll also double his NHL goal total from where it was at the start of the campaign.
