The Tampa Bay Lightning couldn’t earn even one win against the Montreal Canadiens during their 2014 first-round playoff series. They managed to exercise some demons tonight though with a 7-1 victory over the Habs.

Tampa Bay dominated this game from start to finish with Steven Stamkos leading the charge. He had a hat trick and 12 shots on goal -- matching the entire Sabres team Monday afternoon -- after failing to find the back of the net in his first two contests. Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman also deserves a lot of the credit though.

Hedman broke out with 55 points in 2013-14 and he’s picked up right where he left off. He had a goal and three assists tonight and now leads the league with seven points in three contests. He also logged 21:23 minutes of ice time.

Tampa Bay chased Carey Price out of this game after beating him four times on 23 shots through two periods. Backup Dustin Tokarski couldn’t stop the bleeding in the third frame though. He surrendered three goals on a staggering 18 shots, including Vladislav Namestnikov’s first career marker.

Tampa Bay is now 2-0-1 going into tomorrow’s game against New Jersey. The Canadiens will have a couple days off to regroup after their first loss of the season before they play Boston on Thursday.
