Jets yank rookie goalie Hutchinson after Kings take commanding lead

Michael Hutchinson was asked to play against the defending champion Los Angeles Kings in his fourth career NHL game and the result wasn’t great.

The 24-year-old goaltender was pulled after Tanner Pearson handed the Kings a 3-0 lead at 2:03 of the second period.

Although he can’t be happy with the outcome, it wasn’t all bad for Hutchinson. He did make a strong effort on Tyler Toffoli’s goal early in the first period, but his teammates couldn’t bail him out:

He didn’t look as good on Anze Kopitar’s first goal of the season though:

The Jets’ goaltending is a big concern this season given starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec’s less than stellar career numbers and Hutchinson’s inexperience.
