It probably isn’t an exaggeration to say that Peter Budaj’s having a lousy week.
1. The Montreal Canadiens traded him to the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.
2. The Jets waived him one day later.
3. Despite 296 games of regular season experience,* no one bit on grabbing Budaj.
4. Now playing for for the St. John’s IceCaps, the 32-year-old ended up with this wound:
At least there are some bright sides. He seems to be OK and is still making $1.4 million despite the demotion. Still, this probably isn’t how the experienced backup expected the first week of his 2014-15 campaign to go.
