Chances are Andre Burakovsky won’t soon forget his first NHL goal.
The Swedish rookie, taken 23rd overall at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, scored in his NHL debut on Thursday — against the Montreal Canadiens, no less — and in the process scored Washington’s first goal of the 2014-15 season as well:
A skillful center that opened as the Caps’ No. 2 center, Burakowsky — who only turned 19 in February — earned rave reviews from head coach Barry Trotz during the preseason.
“High-level talent,” Trotz said. “He has a mature game, even though he’s really young in terms of years.”
