NBC’s NHL coverage got a significant boost on Wednesday with news that hockey insiders Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger would join the network as contributors.

“Bob’s and Darren’s work at TSN speaks for itself. They are two of the best-connected and most-informed reporters in hockey. They instantly make our show better,” said NBC and NBCSN executive producer Sam Flood. “Their collective presence elevates our hockey newsgathering capacity to an unprecedented level, with the viewer being the beneficiary.”

McKenzie and Dreger are both well known for their work on Canadian sports network TSN, and regarded as two of the most insightful and dialed-in reporters in the hockey industry. McKenzie will work as an in-studio analyst for NBC’s Wednesday Night Rivalry telecasts, and provide on-site commentary at the NHL All-Star Game, the Stanley Cup Final and NHL Draft.

Dreger will serve “in a similar role, but less frequently,” per NBC Sports.
