Ryan Carter is headed home.
Carter, a Minnesota native, has inked a one-year, two-way contract worth $725,000 with the Wild, the club announced on Monday. The deal comes after the 31-year-old took part in New Jersey’s training camp; Carter stuck with the Devils during the exhibition campaign after spending the last three seasons with the organization.
A gritty bottom-six forward with 360 games of NHL experience, Carter made a name for himself during the Devils’ run to the 2012 Stanley Cup Final -- he, along with Steve Bernier and Stephen Gionta, created an energetic fourth line that combined to score 21 points in 24 games.
Per the Tribune’s Mike Russo, Carter is going to open the season on the Wild roster (Justin Fontaine is currently on IR.)#mnwild offered Carter a one-way contract. He opted for a 2-way (for a little more money) so he has waiver option if it doesn’t work
