There’s concern in Carolina, where forward Jeff Skinner has been diagnosed with a concussion after being hit by Washington defenseman Matt Niskanen during a preseason game Sunday.

“Jeff has been diagnosed with a concussion,” said ‘Canes GM Ron Francis in a statement. “He will continue to be monitored by our team doctors and go through proper protocols in the coming days.”

No timeline was provided for Skinner’s return. The 22-year-old has missed time with concussions before.

Add Jordan Staal’s injury (broken leg) to the equation and the ‘Canes are already facing some serious challenges.
