The Florida Panthers have named veteran defenseman Willie Mitchell as their captain, according to Harvey Fialkov of the Sun Sentinel.

Mitchell, 37, signed a two-year deal with the Panthers in the offseason, after winning a pair of Stanley Cups with the Kings. He takes the ‘C’ from Ed Jovanovski, who was bought out this summer.

Five NHL teams are still without a captain: the Sabres, Blue Jackets, Canadiens, Rangers, and Sharks.
