Blues release Bissonnette

The St. Louis Blues announced Saturday that forward Paul Bissonnette has been released from his professional tryout.

Better known for his Twitter persona, Bissonnette was on a camp invite with the Blues, but reportedly suffering from a groin injury at the time of his release.

Bissonnette, 29, has appeared in 202 career NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Arizona Coyotes where he has seven goals and 22 points to go along with 340 penalty minutes.

Given the way the league is headed, shying away from the one-dimensional enforcer-type player, it’s hard to see Bissonnette landing with another NHL club.

Additionally, the Blues assigned goaltender Matt Climie to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

Climie, 31, appeared in 23 games for the Wolves last season, posting an 11-10-2 record to go along with a 2.84 GAA and a .900 save percentage.
