Jets waive Tangradi

EricTangradi

The Winnipeg Jets made their first significant move of the preseason on Friday, placing forward Eric Tangradi on waivers.

Tangradi, 25, has appeared in 91 games for the Jets over the last two seasons, scoring four goals and 10 points. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound power forward has never lived up to the promise that saw him go 42nd overall at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, but had been a fairly regular lineup presence for the Jets and is currently in the second of a two-year, $1.35 million deal signed with Winnipeg in July of 2013.

With Tangradi out of the mix, Winnipeg could be opening up a roster spot for one of its young forward prospects. Nikolaj Ehlers (ninth overall, ’14), Nicolas Petan (43rd overall, ’13) and Adam Lowry (67th overall, ’11) are all still with the team in training camp.
