As relatively disappointing as Winnipeg Jets defenseman Zach Bogosian’s career has been so far, he does carry some “What if?” factor in that he just cannot seem to stay healthy. He left Thursday’s preseason game and won’t return after suffering a lower-body injury.
It’s unclear how severe the injury is for the 24-year-old, yet the frustration from Jets fans is palpable.
Update: The early word is that he’s considered day-to-day.
#NHLJets head coach Paul Maurice told reporters Zach Bogosian (lower-body) is day-to-day and he was removed for precautionary reasons

The third overall pick of the 2008 NHL Draft (warning: Jets fans might not want to look at some of the blueliners drafted after Bogosian) was limited to 55 games played in 2013-14 and missed 15 games in 2012-13. Since playing in 81 contests with the then-Atlanta Thrashers in 2009-10, Bogosian’s missed at least 11 games every season.
His offensive game has dipped while his defense still leaves plenty to be desired, which only exacerbates the frustration for Winnipeg.
Here’s hoping this issue isn’t too significant, as one cannot help but wonder if the organization’s patience is running a little thin with the big blueliner’s perpetual injuries and struggles.
