Another restricted free agent has agreed to terms.

Taylor Beck has signed a one-year, $550,000 contract with the Nashville Predators, per the team’s website. The fact that it’s a one-way deal is interesting given that he only played in 23 NHL games over the course of his entry-level contract.

Beck obviously had to be re-signed before he could play for Nashville, but it’s worth noting that he wasn’t staying away from the team while unsigned as restricted free agents typically do. Instead, the 23-year-old forward decided to attend Nashville’s training camp without a contract.

“I just really wanted to go out there and do what I’m capable of,” Beck told The Tennessean last week. “I want to play in the NHL this year, and I’m going to do whatever it takes to make it there.”

It looks like his decision to go ahead with the preseason auditioning process worked in his favor.
