The Dallas Stars have announced that they’ve signed 19-year-old forward Remi Elie to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Taken with the 40th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Elie had 28 goals and 65 points in 61 OHL games last season after only recording 17 points in 2012-13.

The Stars also eliminated 14 players from their training camp roster, including top goaltending prospect Jack Campbell. The fact that Campbell was reassigned wasn’t surprising given that the Stars are set to enter the season with Kari Lehtonen and Anders Lindback, but Dallas could end up turning to Campbell if a goaltending injury warrants it. Given that Lindback will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2015, it also might not be much longer before Campbell sticks with Dallas.

Jason Dickinson, Ludwig Karlsson, Henri Kiviaho, Maxime Lagace, Taylor Peters, Gemel Smith, Matej Stransky, Branden Troock, and Troy Vance were also sent to the minors. Nicholas Blanchard, Maxime Fortunus, Derek Hulak, and Derek Meech were released from their tryout offers.

That reduces the Stars’ training camp roster to 34 players.
