From Matt Sekeres, radio host for TSN 1040 in Vancouver:
Pierre McGuire tells us that there are 4 teams w/ "significant interest" in Jacob Markstrom. Thinks there's a chance he is claimed. #Canucks

The Canucks put Markstrom on waivers today, with the likely intention of assigning him to AHL Utica. It was a risk general manager Jim Benning felt he needed to take (audio), given Vancouver already has two NHL netminders in Ryan Miller and Eddie Lack, and, also, a roster spot may be needed for one of the club’s young prospects at forward.
We’re not sure if McGuire mentioned any of the four possible teams, but wouldn’t it be amusing if Markstrom ended up in New Jersey backing up Cory Schneider? And he became, like, really good?
