Sonny Milano, who the Columbus Blue Jackets took with the 16th overall selection in June’s NHL Draft, could be out up to two months after suffering “multiple facial fractures,” according to a report from Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.

Blue Jackets prospect left wing Sonny Milano, the club’s No. 16 overall selection in June, suffered multiple facial fractures when he was checked into the boards during Thursday’s 6-4 win over Minnesota at the NHL prospects tournament in Traverse City, Mich.
Milano suffered a fractured orbital bone and a fractured cheek, according to Plymouth Whalers director of U.S. scouting Don Harkins.
Harkins said Milano is expected to miss eight weeks.
Within minutes, Portzline provided an update that included a comment from Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen.

Only a few days ago, the Blue Jackets announced the signing of Milano to an entry-level contract.
The 18-year-old left winger from the United States National Development Program had originally confirmed his commitment to Boston College, but has since opted to join the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League.
