Ryan Malone is looking to continue his NHL career after he was arrested in April for driving under the influence and cocaine possession and was later bought out by Tampa Bay. With mere weeks before the start of training camp though, Malone is still unsigned.

The 34-year-old forward and the Pittsburgh Penguins have been “kicking tires,” according to his agent, Mike Liut. Today Liut added that Malone plans to join the New York Rangers for an informal skate, per the Post’s Larry Brooks.

Malone and the Rangers haven’t come to any agreement and it’s not yet known if he will take part in their training camp.

This follows an earlier report from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the Rangers had expressed an interest in his services. Malone has struggled in his last two seasons, but before that he had reached the 20-goal mark in six out of eight campaigns.
