Nikolaj Ehlers has agreed to a three-year, entry-level deal with the Winnipeg Jets, according to the Winnipeg Free Press’ Gary Lawless.

The 18-year-old forward was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He had 49 goals and 104 points in 63 games with the QMJHL Halifax Mooseheads in 2013-14.

Ehlers’ skating and shot are among his greatest assets. It’s also worth noting that he put up his impressive QMJHL numbers while often playing alongside another top prospect in Jonathan Drouin.

A native of Denmark, Ehlers’ father, Heinz, was drafted by the New York Rangers in the ninth round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Although Heinz never ended up playing in North America, he did enjoy a lengthy career in Europe.
