Stars sign Glennie to one-year, two-way deal

The Dallas Stars signed forward Scott Glennie to a one-year, two-way contract on Thursday. The financial terms were not revealed.

Dallas selected Glennie eighth overall in the 2009 NHL Draft. After a strong junior career with the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings, Glennie has struggled to distinguish himself. He has only seen a single game of NHL action (one pointless contest with the Stars back in 2011-12) and hasn’t been dominant at the AHL level, either. He set a new career-high in goals with 15 in 50 games with the AHL’s Texas Stars and managed 10 points in 20 playoff games during the team’s Calder Cup-winning run.

The bright side is that he has room to improve at 23. It might not be easy, however, especially since the Stars seem positioned to work their way to genuine contender status in the Western Conference.
