The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Peter Mueller to a one-year, two-way contract.
Mueller, the eighth overall pick in the 2006 draft, last played in the NHL in 2013, as a member of the Florida Panthers. The 26-year-old spent last season in Switzerland, racking up 46 points in 49 games for Kloten.
For the Blues, it’s a low-risk signing with a potentially good upside. We actually wrote last summer about Mueller, before he went to Europe. While he does have a concussion history, he also scored 22 goals, with 32 assists, as a rookie for the Coyotes in 2007-08.
Mueller’s possession numbers were also good relative to his teammates in Florida. It was a lack of finish (just eight goals on 131 shots) that hurt his production.
