B’s re-sign Warsofsky: one year, $600,000

Bruins defenseman David Warsofsky has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract extension worth $600,000 at the NHL level, the club announced on Thursday.

Warsofsky, 24, was acquired as part of the Vladimir Sobotka-to-St. Louis trade of 2010, and made his Boston debut last season by scoring two points in six games. He’s much in the same mold as Torey Krug -- diminutive (5-foot-8, 170 pounds), talented puck mover, offensively inclined -- and scored 26 points in 56 games for AHL Providence last season, and nine more points in 12 playoff games.

With Warsofsky signed, B’s GM Peter Chiarelli must now turn his attention to his three remaining -- and most important -- restricted free agents: Krug, Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser.
