Brisebois to leave Habs’ front office

After two years on the job, Patrice Brisebois is parting ways with Montreal.

The former Habs blueliner, who was brought aboard two years ago in a player development coaching role, has decided to step away for personal reasons, the club announced on Thursday.

Brisebois, 43, was one of Marc Bergevin’s first hires upon getting the Canadiens GM gig in June of 2012. Brisebois worked under the player development umbrella spearheaded by another ex-NHLer -- Martin Lapointe -- and worked primarily with the club’s young defensemen.

No surprise, given Brisebois spent 16 seasons on the Montreal defense and appeared in over 900 regular season games.
