Doctors for the Pittsburgh Penguins have opted to forgo surgery on Sidney Crosby’s wrist.

“Sid will continue treatments and be evaluated regularly while he prepares for training camp in September,” the club tweeted today.

It was reported last week by a Pittsburgh newspaper that Crosby would have arthroscopic surgery to repair a wrist injury that hindered his performance in the playoffs.

That report was quickly refuted by the Penguins, though the team did concede that he “was undergoing treatment on a right wrist injury that he suffered during the season” and that surgery was a possibility.
