The San Jose Sharks have re-signed 24-year-old defenseman Matt Tennyson to a two-year deal and added some more grit to their organization by inking 28-year-old forward Micheal Haley to a one-year deal.

Tennyson got his first taste of NHL action last season, but former Western Michigan University blueliner played primarily with the AHL Worcester Sharks. At that level, Tennyson had seven goals and 21 points in 54 AHL games.

Haley played in nine games with the New York Rangers last season and has logged a total of 52 career NHL contests. He has accumulated 163 penalty minutes over the course of his brief NHL career and he gets into a similar amount of trouble in the minors.

“Micheal plays with an edge and competes hard on every shift,” said Sharks GM Doug Wilson, per the team’s website. “His hard-working, physical game brings a different dimension that teams have to account for, and he is a great teammate that will mesh well with our organization.”
