The Tampa Bay Lightning are keeping their young corps of forwards together nicely.
The team announced they’ve re-signed forward Alex Killorn to a two-year contract. He was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1.
Killorn, 24, had 17 goals and 41 points for Tampa this season and ever since coming out of Harvard he’s been a steady offensive threat.
Along with Ondrej Palat and Tyler Johnson, Killorn has provided an offensive threat after coming out of the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch. Unlike those players, he didn’t snag a matching three-year, $10 million deal.
This season, Killorn was getting prime-time duty playing on the Lightning’s top line alongside Steven Stamkos as well as with Valtteri Filppula. His strong two-way play has helped make him a valuable player on both sides of the ice and an excellent complement to the team’s bigger stars.
