Being an official often comes down to making tough judgment calls. In big games, the power-play opportunities that result in controversial penalties can be controversial (if they result in goals) and easily forgotten (if they don’t).

Much like when Dwight King didn’t get whistled for goalie interference, the New York Rangers probably aren’t happy that Mats Zuccarello received a tripping penalty that arguably should have gone to Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin.

That’s especially true since Marian Gaborik tied things up on the ensuing man advantage.

Gaborik has certainly shown a knack for timely goals in the 2014 playoffs. These two teams will determine how we look back at this memorable span in Game 5.
