It’s easy to overreact to a seven-game series by conjuring false narratives, yet it’s difficult to avoid getting caught up in all the talk about the New York Rangers squandering two-goal leads. For the third time in this series, the Rangers managed to build a 2-0 lead against the Los Angeles Kings. It’s already reasonable to ask if they’ll see that margin dissolve once more.

The Rangers opened up scoring with this Benoit Pouliot deflection. Despite some flat stretches of play and a near-goal, New York managed to go up 2-0 in the second period thanks to this Martin St. Louis tally:

Like a horror movie villain, you just knew the Kings wouldn’t stay down. They generated a slew of scary chances, yet Dustin Brown’s breakaway moves helped Los Angeles narrow the deficit to 2-1:

It could be a nerve-wrecking final stretch of Game 4, whether this game or series ends in regulation. Either way, it doesn’t seem like things will come easily for the Rangers.
