The New York Rangers made it to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1994 and now we’re seeing another first since the Rangers’ magical run 20 years ago: a Game 7 overtime in the conference finals.

Marian Gaborik’s 4-4 goal opened the door for the Los Angeles Kings to push this game beyond regulation, yet Jonathan Quick came up big a few times in this final frame. The most breathtaking moment came when Quick managed to stop the Andrew Shaw – Brandon Saad – Patrick Kane’s great chances in the waning moments of the third period:

So far, the Kings’ heroes have been Justin Williams, Jeff Carter and Marian Gaborik while Patrick Kane, Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews are playing that role for Chicago. Who will get the spotlight in overtime, though?

One thing’s certain: either Quick or Corey Crawford will be haunted by the goal that determines this instant-classic series, even it’s the kind of chance no goalie would stop.
