Josh Gorges took losing Game 6 pretty hard

The Montreal Canadiens’ loss in Game 6 to the New York Rangers was their second Eastern Conference Final defeat in five seasons. For Habs defenseman Josh Gorges, he was there for both of them and those defeats hit him hard.

Following Montreal’s 1-0 loss in Game 6 to end their season, Gorges opened up about how he feels like time is getting away from him as Arpon Basu of NHL.com shared via Twitter.

“I’m a little bit lost for words because I’m still trying to process this. I’m still stunned. It’s tough,” Gorges said. “You’ve got to think that my career is more than half over and you still haven’t reached that next level.”

You can give Gorges a pass for sounding dire after a tough series loss, but as a NHL player he may have a point.

Gorges, 29, has been in the NHL for nine seasons, the vast majority of those with the Canadiens. He was part of the Habs team that made the Eastern Final in 2010 before losing to the Philadelphia Flyers in five games.

All that said, this Canadiens team was very good and Gorges is under contract with them for four more years. The chances he’ll get another crack at making it to the Stanley Cup Final are better than not.
