Video: Stepan, Prust shake hands after series ends

Montreal Canadiens v New York Rangers - Game Six

NEW YORK, NY - MAY 29: Henrik Lundqvist #30 of the New York Rangers hugs Brandon Prust #8 of the Montreal Canadiens after defeating the Montreal Canadiens in Game Six to win the Eastern Conference Final in the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Madison Square Garden on May 29, 2014 in New York City. For all the heat between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers, friendship sure came up often.

Michel Therrien and Alain Vigneault said that they would put their friendship on hold for the two-or-so weeks of this conference final series. Brandon Prust professed regret regarding his hit on Derek Stepan, particularly since he feels like his former Rangers teammate is/was his friend.

One can read too much into interactions like these, yet it seemed like Stepan and Prust made amends during the handshake line tradition after the Rangers bounced the Habs in Game 6:

We’ll make sure there aren’t any Milan Lucic-type controversies before getting too warm-and-fuzzy, though.
