Video: Rangers open the scoring on wild play in front of Tokarski

Montreal Canadiens v New York Rangers - Game Three

in Game Three of the Eastern Conference Final during the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Madison Square Garden on May 22, 2014 in New York City.

Dustin Tokarski didn’t have much of a chance on this one.

The New York Rangers opened the scoring in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Montreal Canadiens on Carl Hagelin’s fifth goal of the post-season. And what a wild and odd sequence this turned out to be.

It started when P.K. Subban coughed up the puck and the New York blue line after the Canadiens won the faceoff. Hagelin broke in on a two-on-one rush, dished off to Martin St. Louis, who was somehow robbed by the left glove of Josh Gorges, who had gone sliding backwards into Tokarski.

The collision between Gorges and Tokarski rendered the Habs goalie almost useless in that situation, and Hagelin, showing off his baseball skills, knocked the puck out of mid-air and into the net. Odd. But this has been an eventful game already, with the first-period sequence that saw Daniel Carcillo tossed less than six minutes in.

The Habs, down 2-0 in the series, evened the score in the second period on a goal from Andrei Markov.
