For the first time since he entered into this series, John Gibson looked to have a dent in his armor.
The 20-year-old Anaheim Ducks’ goalie allowed a soft goal off the stick of Trevor Lewis late in the second period to give the L.A. Kings a 2-0 lead in Game 6 of that Western Conference second-round series.
Gibson’s frustration was evident just as the puck got by him and over the goal line. Lewis let go a wrist shot from the top of the faceoff circle that appeared to beat Gibson through the legs.
Gibson got the surprise start in Game 4 of this series, and has collected wins in each of the last two games to put the Ducks on the brink of making it to the Western Conference Final.
Gibson did make up for it, with a beautiful desperation glove save off Kings’ defenseman Drew Doughty right after the Ducks scored to make it a one-goal game.
