Rangers’ Staal delights in Penguins’ frustration

Marc Staal indicated that the New York Rangers are glad if they’re indeed under the Pittsburgh Penguins’ skin – if not in their heads – after beating them 3-1 in Game 6 on Sunday.

“Yeah they’re getting chippy,” Staal said, according to Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record. “It’s a good thing. If they weren’t getting like that we’d be doing something wrong.”

Brian Boyle praised Dominic Moore’s ability to get under his opponents’ skin after the win (Moore was the target of Sidney Crosby’s stick infraction at the end of the second period).

The Rangers seem to be taking this angle with stride. While Staal seems delighted and Boyle is choosing the lighthearted approach, Henrik Lundqvist just avoided the subject entirely after being asked about spraying Crosby with his water bottle during that exchange at the end of the middle frame.

So far, a frustrating Crosby and Penguins team in general has been a good thing for the Rangers. We’ll see if that trend continues in Game 7 on Tuesday.
