It would seem like a perfect fit to one day have an outdoor, stadium series game in Minnesota, doesn’t it?
According to an interview with National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman and conducted by Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, that appears to be a strong possibility. And it could happen quickly, too.
The Wild continues its quest to host a Winter Classic. But there are plans to bring a stadium-series game to Minnesota as soon as next season.
The Wild wants the opponent to be the Blackhawks, but the NHL is pushing the Dallas Stars as the opponent. If the game happens, it looks as if it will be played at Target Field.
“We know of the interest. You know I was here looking at venues. I have nothing to announce, but,” Bettman told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, “we’re very focused.”
Bettman also recently touched on the topic of NHL expansion.
