Video: Rangers scoring drought ends at 145:30 minutes

Hagelin goal

The Rangers gave up the first goal for the third straight game on Wednesday. For the first time since Game 1 though, they responded.

New York went 145:30 minutes without beating Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury before Carl Hagelin took advantage of an open lane to race with the puck. He finished the sequence off with a quick shot that found the back of the net.

You can see that below:

Evgeni Malkin accounted for the Penguins’ first goal on a backhanded shot that was set up by Sidney Crosby:

The Rangers’ power-play remains a major concern though. Not only have they failed to capitalize on another two opportunities, but they surrendered a shorthanded goal to the Penguins late in the second period and New York consequently went into the second intermission down one goal.
