Minnesota Wild forward Mikael Granlund returned from a lower-body injury for Game 1 of their first round series against the Colorado Avalanche. The 22-year-old needed some time to get back into the swing of things, but he showed what he was capable of in Game 3’s overtime period by outmaneuvering the Avalanche until he finally beat goaltender Semyon Varlamov.
“Granny was all over the puck…It was awesome to see him score like that,” Zach Parise said, per the Wild’s Twitter.
Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper added that it was “one of the biggest goals I’ve ever seen.”
Granlund put it into context though by pointing out that the Wild have yet another big game ahead of them. Colorado still has a 2-1 series lead going into Game 4 on Thursday.
Mikko Koivu: "It wasn't a must-win. But it kind of was."
