Oilers name new assistant GM

Bill Scott

Bill Scott has been named assistant general manager of the Edmonton Oilers, replacing Ricky Olczyk, who has declined another position with the club.

From the press release:

Scott, 33, has spent the past four seasons as General Manager of the Oilers American Hockey League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons.

As a member of the Oilers Hockey Management team, Scott’s responsibilities will include player and staff contract negotiations, scheduling, salary arbitration, salary cap management and all day to day administrative duties. He is also the club’s liaison to the NHL regarding matters pertaining to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

“I would like to welcome Bill and his family to Edmonton,” said Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish. “Bill has done an exceptional job managing all facets of the Barons day to day operations and has played a large part in their success over the past four years.”
