NHL fines Ed Jovanovski $5K for elbowing Corey Tropp

The NHL decided to fine Florida Panthers defenseman Ed Jovanovski $5,000 for an elbowing incident involving Columbus Blue Jackets forward Corey Tropp from Saturday.

Jovanovski, 37, received a game misconduct and five-minute major penalty for elbowing in the game itself. You can view the incident itself in the video below:

It remains to be seen if the long-time blueliner will play next season. With a 35+ contract, he’ll receive is 2014-15 salary ($4.125 million) either way.

(So, yes, the fine probably won’t hurt “Jovocop” too much.)
