Scott Hannan’s game came to an early end for the San Jose Sharks against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.

From Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area:

Sharks defenseman Scott Hannan was hurt on Friday night against Colorado, taking an apparent blow to the head from the Avalanche’s Patrick Bordeleau late in the first period.

Visibly wobbly, Hannan skated back to the bench and was seen chatting with team trainer Ray Tufts. He did not play after the hit, and did not return for the second period.

On the other side, Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie has left this game as well, after taking a massive open-ice hit from Sharks’ defenseman Jason Demers in the first period. Barrie has not returned, and there was no call on the Demers hit.

Updated: As per the San Jose Mercury News, Hannan will not make the trip to Phoenix for Saturday’s game against the Coyotes.
