Michigan State product Jake Chelios — son of Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Chelios — has signed a deal with St. Louis’ AHL affiliate in Chicago, the club announced on Friday.
Chelios, 23, joined the club after four years with the Spartans and a brief stint with ECHL Toledo. In joining the Wolves, Jake will suit up for the same team his father did during the 2009-10 campaign, when Chris scored five goals and 22 points while splitting time between Chicago and the Atlanta Thrashers.
(The Wolves have switched affiliates three times over the last three years, from the Thrashers to the Canucks to the Blues.)
The younger Chelios — who, like his father, is also a defenseman — had 21 points in 36 games with Michigan State this season, and two in seven games with Toledo.
