This might be the save of the year.

Cam Ward of the Carolina Hurricanes was down and out, but somehow recovered to make a spectacular stick save on Winnipeg Jets’ forward Bryan Little.

Little was staring down a wide open net when the loose puck came right to him just off to the side of the Carolina net. Ward didn’t have any other play but to throw out the paddle of the stick, somehow stopping the puck.

It’s been a day of terrific saves across the NHL. Earlier, we brought you this highlight of Jonathan Quick making a desperation glove stop on Florida Panthers’ forward Tomas Fleischmann.

Ward also used the paddle to make another stick save on Eric O’Dell’s wrap-around attempt in the first period.
