Blues forward T.J. Oshie will miss Monday night’s game against Winnipeg following the birth of his first child -- a daughter, Lyla Grace Oshie -- who entered the world this morning.
It’s yet another highlight for Oshie in what’s been a tremendous 2013-14 campaign. He rebounded from an injury-plagued ’13 season to match a career-high in points (54) through just 67 games, and shot to international stardom during the Winter Olympics in Sochi for his shootout heroics against Russia in the group stage.
What’s more, Oshie is playing the role of vital contributor on a Blues team primed to set the franchise record for wins in a season. The 1999-2000 team -- led by Jack Adams winner Joel Quenneville and Norris/Hart winner Chris Pronger -- racked up 51 wins; this current Blues squad has 46 and needs just six more over the final 15 games of the season to break the mark.
(Note: Some have mentioned the ’99-00 team captured 51 wins without the benefit of shootout victories. To that, it’s worth pointing out the Blues have 38 regulation/overtime wins this year... so it’s unlikely they’ll get to 51 in the “traditional” way.)
