From NHL.com’s Arpon Basu:
"We haven't heard anyone talking about going to Vegas yet." - J-S Giguère when asked what's the biggest difference on Avalanche under Roy.
— Arpon Basu (@ArponBasu) March 17, 2014
That, of course, is related to Giguere’s comments last April, when the Avs were well on their way to missing the playoffs for the third straight time under head coach Joe Sacco.
“Some guys are more worried about their Vegas trip at the end of the season than playing the games, than playing every minute of the games,” Giguere said.
“Quite frankly, I don’t care about your Vegas trip right now.”
Soon after, Shane O’Brien was traded to Calgary. (Just thought we’d mention that. Might be relevant.)
Anyway, the surprising Avs are in Montreal to take on the Habs tomorrow. Colorado won again yesterday, beating the Sens, 3-1, on the strength of 38 Semyon Varlamov saves.
Sounds like Giguere will get start for COL vs MTL tomorrow and Berra will start in WPG on Wed. A little R and R for Varlamov this week.
