Andersson out with broken foot, as Wings lose yet another center

The Detroit Red Wings are down another center. The latest injured man in the middle is Joakim Andersson, who will miss a couple of weeks with a broken left foot.

“It’s no fun,” Andersson said, per the Detroit Free Press. “We already had a lot of centermen hurt. It’s a bad position, I guess.”

Andersson suffered the injury blocking a shot in Sunday’s 3-0 loss to the Rangers.

Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, Darren Helm and Stephen Weiss were already out of the lineup with various ailments, leaving David Legwand, Riley Sheahan, Luke Glendening and AHL call-up Cory Emmerton as the centers who will try and get the Wings into the playoffs for a 23rd straight time.

Detroit plays in Columbus Tuesday before returning home to host Edmonton Friday.
