MacKinnon’s 13-game point streak breaks Gretzky’s record for an 18-year-old


Nathan MacKinnon is having a special run as an 18-year-old rookie for the Colorado Avalanche. Few things say that better than “breaking one of Wayne Gretzky’s records.”

With a point in his 13th consecutive game, he broke Gretzky’s record streak for an 18-year-old, as “The Great One” scored in 12 straight games. MacKinnon earned some style points, as well, as that point came as he set up Colorado’s overtime game-winner against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday:

Still, it was an impressive feat, which Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy acknowledged.
